Stepping out into the sun,

I shield my eyes from light

after living so long in the dark

even a candle would be bright.

I have morphed into a creature

unlike what anyone has seen

but I am happier this way

at least my soul is clean.

The Thing with Feathers

Hope most certainly has feathers-

and he perches on my soul-

he sings the tunes-and-the words-

which in my heart, never stop at all-

And sweetest- from my Webster- is heard-

and no storm so harsh could ever-

deter my little bird-

who warms my heart-

I’ve heard him in the morn and night-

and at my weakest on my knees-

and always- despite all efforts-

he leaves a crumb- for me.

Pros and Cons

There are two sides to every coin. There is a balance in nature. Every Yin has a Yang. Therefore, I have compiled a list of pros and cons for my life.

Cons

Pros

My cat scratched and hissed at me.

At least she was paying attention to me.

I have almost finished reading a really good book.

I will start reading a really good book.

My new shoes hurt my feet.

My new shoes make it capable to kill ants.

I am broke.

I am the same level of broke that I was last month at this time.

I got busted by the cops.

It was only while playing Grand Theft Auto.

To My Bird

I taught you the ways of the world

like how to make a human

cater to your every whim.

I taught you to make noise

when you want their attention

really do anything, go out on limb.

I taught you to make messes,

or maybe it was you who shared

the best way to leave the crumbs.

I taught you to cover your ears

whenever there is any noise

including those damn drums.

I taught you all of this and still

it seems as though your lessons

in love were somehow greater.

You helped me become a family cat

but I would still try to eat you

but not because I am a traitor.

So, let it be known, that no other

can ever abuse or attempt harm

to you, my bird and my brother.

So much as a cat can proclaim,

my love to you, I do unless anyone asks

then I don’t even know your name.

Draft

I was thinking about you,

just the other day,

as I sat alone in the study

as pondered by myself

exactly what you would say.

I knew that if you were here

you would have some insight

or even lend an ear

to this friend soul lost in flight.

Then, like a sign from above

Suddenly, there came a sign the door blew open

perhaps a the work of your craft

or maybe it was nothing more

than just a simple draft.

A Mid-Week Pick-Me-Up

It’s been a while since I have offered up some of my fantastic pick-up lines for all those looking to get lucky. Here are some sure to work.

-(Dig around in your pockets) Just looking for my inhaler, ’cause you take my breath away.

-Are you an art lover? I have a really nice mural painted on my bedroom ceiling if you’d like to see it.

-(For all the Walking Dead fans) I would love to pour some Bisquick with you and see if we make pancakes.

-I don’t care if you dress is blue and black or white and gold, I would just like to see it on the floor.

-Are you a book lover? I would love to see you between the covers.
