Out of Tune

I wish I could strike up the band

and have them play

that same sweet melody

as when we met that day.

But, I know deep down,

it would just not be the same

since the notes now fall flat

and the band is not to blame.

smothering the last of day

It’s not just sex

of this I am sure

for what pulls me to you

there is no cure;

not that I would take it

even if there were

since my addiction is strong

and my drug, so pure.

Legacy

I long to write the words

that are so pure and true

and move just a single soul

as only words can do.

If only they could flow

freely from my pen

and save a lonely soul

from something it has been.

A hero I would be

yet I would never know

but the life that carries on

could help another soul.

For many years,

man has claimed

cat is not wild,

they can be tamed.

Man may not know this,

but it is all a great big lie

we put on a good show

and here is the reason why:

for many years,

cat has known

man can be tamed

for cat to own.

Traffic Jam

Sleep has not arrived

as traffic has it stuck

so tonight lingers on

I am just outta’ luck.

The pileup is of you

and all my errant thoughts

that block this road from passage

and leave my stomach tied in knots.

Why won’t you go away

and leave my memories be?

Let sleep through tonight
