Hope and Wait

Left for dead
does not equate
to killing man
and tempting fate.

Drunk and lonely
serves for one night
and impedes further
the internal fight.

Simple and clean,
it will never be
since choice and will
are never free.

Hope and wait
for good things to come,
but wait too long
and the dark has won.

Trampled

The herd tiptoes
like giants on speed,
breaking mother nature’s
carefully planned land.
What lay in the path
is soon to be no more
as the rampage begins
and ends in gore.

My heart once was whole
until it heard your voice
and I knew with no doubt
you would leave me crushed.
What more could be done,
my choice simply made;
and through this carnage,
this shell will forever wade.

You Are

You are the moon
and the sun
and every star
in between.

You are the breath
and the life
that surges
through me.

You are the words
and the looks
that are expelled
from my heart.

You are the world,
the universe,
the only candle
in my dark.

Plans fall through
and cities collapse;
civilization ceases,
pure happenstance.

Memories fade out
as hope washes away;
wonders do cease
when lonely hearts stray.

Oceans will rise
and hell fires burn
but while life dies around you,
the world will still turn.

A confession.
So simple to say
once the words finally
flow.

A declaration.
You waited it out
just long enough that you
know.

Determination.
That look in your eye
as the sweat builds on your
brow.

Fascination.
Wonder and awe
for what was then and is
now.

Patience

Better late than never
does not always apply
since one word out of place
can make a lonely heart cry.

Time is of the essence
and emotion a fickle thing
but a heart that isn’t broken
is one that never sings.

Patience waits it out
for love and for hope
but virtues rarely last
when it’s harder still to cope.
