Maus

Every noise is you,
every squeaky wheel,
every bump in the night,
every nightmare come real.

Every missing thing,
is back in your lair
and every evil doing,
you accomplish with care.

Every moment,
I lie in wait
as sleep will elude
like you do your bait.

Every breath that I take,
every view that I see,
every minute that passes,
I know you are waiting for me.

Walk By

Every morning,
you walk by
and I don’t even
know your name
but your smile
is all it takes
to brighten up
my day.

Every afternoon,
as if by fate,
I see you pass by
maybe getting lunch
or taking a break
from whatever it is
you do that I
still do not know.

Every evening,
I wait just to see
if you’ll pass by again
but usually I miss
seeing you again
and so I wait
until the next morning
you will walk by again.

Canned

I demand many things of you,
but there is a demand above the rest.
When it’s time to eat,
I want only the best.

So how can it be
that you’re telling me
we are out of can
when that wasn’t the plan?

Mealtime is sacred
and you’ve ruined that for me.
Can’t you see that I’m starving
and you offer me tea?

I don’t want that dry food,
I’m just not in the mood.
When gravy is calling,
you best not be stalling.

So hurry it up
and get what I need
since mistakes like this
might make you bleed.

so drained
by a world
so pained
humans
so shamed
hopelessly
blamed
witches
named
once
so famed
souls
so stained
feeble interest
feigned
sorrow
reigned
the world
maimed
