There is a space to be filled
that is empty and deep

What possesses a man

If there exists a higher power,
shouldn’t this request seem odd?

Scoundrels
I always knew we stood on shaky ground
and our trust goes only so far
with no honor among scoundrels.
I knew the knife was coming,
just never when and how,
but I never felt a thing
until I hit the ground.

River
This river has flowed
since long before I was born
and breathed life into these woods
deep within a landscape so torn.
The gentle trickle fills my heart
and transports me to a place
where death and destruction
exist not within time and space.
Each rock veers its course
but still it carries on
to someplace unknown
where true strength belongs.
