I heard an iPhone buzz – when I died –

Shadow
Always, from the corner of my eye,
I spot your lingering shadow
just waiting for the moment
that I will let you into my soul.
You wait knowing that soon
my strength will falter
and it will be all too easy
to settle in like home.
The constant reminder
is more than most could handle,
but is a scar that I will wear,
and with pride I will bear.

Your Song
She claims she wrote a song for me
as if I am supposed to care.
What a racket that she makes
as she follows me everywhere.
While every cat appreciates
to be treated like a queen,
this treatment lacks for sure
and really is quite obscene.
Get thee back to the drawing board
and find a better way;
if you need a hint or two,
I like fish and warm spots to lay.

Bleed
Ink can bleed
like you or I;
if it bleeds too long
the words will die.
So always take care
and keep your ink dry.

Life Cycle
Take your time
it’s not a race
so be yourself
set your own pace.
Hurry up
decide your fate
choose wisely
and don’t be late.
Slow down
enjoy your life
pay no mind
to pain and strife.
Quickly now
settle down
others have
why the frown?
Take it easy
don’t try too hard
life is a gift
even if it’s scarred.

#tbt
as clear as day,
my eyes do see
the pain you do
inflict upon me
as dark as night,
your eyes do hold
the evil ways
i watch unfold
as hot as hellfire,
my skin does burn
knowing the demon
is what i yearn
cold as ice,
you sure may be
but even still
you’re meant for me

Dry
Water floods the streets
as little lives float away
and big lives stay dry.

Below Zero
My breath billows away
like a smoker’s residue
caught in the wind
turning the world gray.
I should be chilled,
since my cheeks are red,
but in your presence
it’s with warmth I’m filled.

Nearest Fool
A smile crosses your face
as I cuddle up next to you
and my gentle purr starts to stir
with your favorite thing to do.
I stay a while and make you think
that I love this closeness too
but really I was just cold
and you were the nearest fool.
