I go through the motions,
my heart as empty
as my soul.
Vacant stares,
a walking sleep,
a zombie on a roll.
Each day becomes
the next
and yesterday
just a blur.
What tomorrow brings
is more of the same
for sure.
Thunder rolls
as storm clouds
turn the world grey
and I wait for rain
to wash the same
away.

Simple as Fate
How many times before
had I seen you in my store?
What changed this time
that you won’t leave my mind?
How did it get this far
as if fated in the stars?
What would your answer be
if I asked to to join me?
Was it your eyes
or the way you move?
Why do I feel
like I have something to prove?
Was it when you said, “hi”
or when I said, “hello?”
Why do I feel the need
to beg you not to go?
How, the first time, did I not see,
your outer and inner beauty?
Why did I wait so long
to realize a bond so strong?
How then must we proceed?
I am at a loss, I concede.
Why must we complicate
something as simple as fate?

Cats vs. Dogs
Bark all you want,
don’t you know who I am?
I am a queen
who doesn’t give a damn.
Sure you can fetch
and you listen so well
but man’s best friend
can’t be that swell.
I hold such beauty
and purrfection for sure
and anything that ails me,
a nice nap is the cure.
My people do as I say
while you aim to please
and believe it or not
I’ve more tricks up my sleeves.

Etchings
Etched in the wall
of my very own cell
are some faded words
from some ancient hell.
Dried blood and tears
stain the dry wood
and words won’t leave
even when they should.
Some soul before mine
was trapped in this cage
and someday this story
will make it to page.
But now is not the time
for such simple things
when we both know
the kind of hell she brings.

I’ve failed to see your point,
time and again.
Still you argue on
as if someday you’ll win.
My mind will not change
and my will not break
and what little I own,
you sure as hell cannot take.
You’ve failed to realize
that my love cannot be bought
and whatever it is you seek,
is no more than a thought.
Please keep it to yourself
and quickly be on your way;
go and ruin your own life
before trying to ruin my day.

A spark,
a glimmer,
a dying ember
of your past.
Barely visible
but burning
all the same.
Forget it’s there
if you can,
but nothing good
can last.
Always waiting,
lurking
for your soul.

Treehouse
A house among trees,
nature’s beauty on display.
My perfect hideout.

If Walls Could Talk
Beige walls
stare back
just itching to talk.
Tiny holes
with stories
kept under key and lock.
Laughter echoes,
voices bounce
off four sheets of rock.
Times change,
rearrange,
if only walls could talk.

Travesty
High in my tower,
I take in the view
of a desolate land
created by you.
You moved that here
and you moved this there
and now I’m frantic
and you don’t even care.
How am I to sleep
when such a travesty occurs?
How can you think
a simple pet will make me purr?
Please put it back
to how I want it to be
this house is not meant for you
but it is all for me.

Bad Day
It would appear
that I have nothing to say,
which for once is perfect
at the end of a long day.
I spend what moments are left
just watching you breathe
and waiting for sleep
to make light take its leave.
The pains of a so-called life
slowly drift from my mind
as my heart settles in
to this perfect love I find.
Tomorrow will come
and chase today away
but my moment here with you,
in my soul will stay.
