Do you remember when I called you mine
and the look in your eye could stop my heart
and a single touch could start it again?

Do you remember when love was a word,
a feeling, a moment, a look, a friend
who lived in our house so often?

Do you remember when forever seemed
such a short period of time
to share this fiery blossom of love?

I remember all this and more
which is why forever got up
and walked out the door.

In the Name of

What possesses a man
to kill in the name of a god?
If there exists a higher power,
shouldn’t this request seem odd?
Certainly there are safer ways
to prove one’s love and laud,
or is all this pain and suffering
just hatred hiding behind religion’s facade?

River

This river has flowed
since long before I was born
and breathed life into these woods
deep within a landscape so torn.

The gentle trickle fills my heart
and transports me to a place
where death and destruction
exist not within time and space.

Each rock veers its course
but still it carries on
to someplace unknown
where true strength belongs.

Be careful you don’t fall
from that high horse you ride,
you might dirty your Armani
or even scuff your pride.
You’ve been wasting so much effort
constantly looking down at me
when who I am inside
is who I’m meant to be.
Perhaps if you spent more time
looking inside than looking around
you might actually discover
your soul is hell bound.
