Swelter

The noise and the heat
are enough to ruin my day,
under this fur I swelter
and you expect me to play!

Perhaps another family
has heard of central air
and understands the pain
of mixing heat with long hair.

I can’t move an inch,
in this desert that’s so dry.
Oh, you have a fish?
Well, I guess I could try.

Error

I think you are mistaken,
and I’d better set you right,
just because I demand adoration
doesn’t mean to hold me tight.
You are surely incorrect
in assuming I want a kiss;
what I demand is respect
and in return you get a hiss.
In one way you are not wrong
since fish are what I crave,
so keep the dish full for so long
and remember you’re my slave.

Coat

The seasons change

and so does my coat,

leaving you to drown

in this hair filled moat.

Just try to kiss me

and you will find

a beard of fur

is quite divine.

Lost is one thing

that I will never be

since I leave in my wake

little pieces of me.

Fur-Dried

I know something is wrong,

I can tell from the tears

that seep into my fur,

that much is clear.

I know someone is missing,

though not where he’s gone

and I know that I miss him

but tomorrow’s a new dawn.

I know why the tears are shed

and I’ll allow them for now.

My fur can dry your tears

while I cry out, meow.

The Long Lost Lyrics of Meow That’s What I Call Music Volume 2

So I’m gonna’ eat you
Like I’m gonna’ lose you
I’m gonna’ hold you
Like you’re running away

Wherever you’re standing
I won’t take you for granted
’cause I’ll never know when
When I’ll run out of mice

When I had you to myself
I didn’t want you around
Those silly phrases always made me
made me want to frown
Then someone called you into work
One call was all it took
Now it’s much too late for me
To take a second look
Oh, human, give me one more chance
To show you that you love me
Won’t you please let me
Back in the treats.
It’s not in the way that you hold me
It’s not in the way you say you care
It’s not in the way you’ve been treating me to fish
It’s not in the way that you put the food in my dish
It’s not in the way you look or the things that you say that you’ll do
Hold the line, dinner isn’t always on time,
meow, meow, meow
