Today time will spring ahead
leaving a whole hour in the dust.
That’s an hour I could have had in bed
to sleep and snooze as I must.
So now I must find a way instead
to rework my schedule and adjust.
I think I’ll spend the whole day in bed
sleeping through this distrust.
If you ever asked,
I would never really tell,
but I have this favorite toy
that I love so well.
It’s not a mouse or bird,
nor does it crunch or ring,
it holds no catnip at all
but I sure can make it sting.
It’s not a red dot that you
expect me to chase up a wall
but sometimes the color red is present
if I can make my big toy fall.
Have you figured it out yet
about what I like to do
since after all my favorite toy
looks an awful lot like you.
You say you’ve got to leave
as you’re walking out the door,
so what am I to believe?

A mouse on the run
is a joy indeed
knowing that the kill
it the only thrill I need.
Just to catch a glimpse,
I would wait for days
in this same spot
just waiting to graze.
You might think I am asleep
and my eyes may be closed
but still I’ll catch my prey;
I only need to use my nose.
I still can’t believe
you let her do that to me
how embarrassing it was
and you just didn’t see.
I looked you right in the eye
and pleaded for your help.
Still, you stood your ground,
perhaps I should have yelped.
I guess it is all over now
and you claim it was for the best
but how I’ll be teased,
you know cats love speaking in jest.

but forget I’d like to do
so find me a fish this moment
so I can forget all about you.
Betsy DeVos has become the 11th United States Secretary of Education. A lot of my friends happen to be teachers and while I am worried about what this could mean for them, I am more worried about what it could mean for children, especially my own.
A teacher’s job is hard enough without having to worry about the bureaucracy bullshit that gets thrown at them. In recent years it has been bad enough and it seems like things might get even worse before getting better. So, I have made an important decision that in no way is an insult to those teachers out there who give it their all. I will be homeschooling Emilita.
We started our rigorous curriculum just yesterday and she aced her first test. I can already see that the benefits of some extra time spent with my baby girl will help her go far in life. Check out her results below and see for yourself.

I’ve been a cat for a while now
and I’ve learned a thing or two
about how a simple meow
can get a human to do
remarkable feats and tasks,
some unbelievable, but true.
Once, I meowed all night long,
until I made my human shout,
but still I carried on my speech
and proved without a doubt,
humans need not a night of sleep
to fill my bowl with trout.
She claims she wrote a song for me
as if I am supposed to care.
What a racket that she makes
as she follows me everywhere.
While every cat appreciates
to be treated like a queen,
this treatment lacks for sure
and really is quite obscene.
Get thee back to the drawing board
and find a better way;
if you need a hint or two,
I like fish and warm spots to lay.
