Peace and Quiet

I just want peace and quiet,
is that too much to ask?
My tired eyes are heavy
and a nap is my only task.
I want nothing to do with you
and I’ve made that plan to see
so stop constant chatter
so that my ears are free.
Don’t tell me someone’s here
and don’t coax me with a fish,
I need some alone time;
this is my only wish.
Pester me some more
and soon you will find out
just want my paws can do
as your head receives a clout.

The Hunt Is On

Nighttime falls
and the world comes alive.

The hunt is on
and on this thrill, I thrive.

The grasses sway
and the crickets chirp.

As I lay in wait
for the sneaky perp.

Whiskers twitch
and eyes are wide.

And like a lion
I hunt with pride.

The hunt is on
and on this thrill, I thrive.

Nighttime falls
and the world comes alive.

Fave

I tried to tell you all along

that I had your best interests in mind

since your failure to comply

could potentially leave you blind.

All you had to do was listen

and be my eternal slave,

so bring me a treat right now,

tuna flavored are my fave.

At Your Service

You called for help, didn’t you?
Well here I am!
What can I get into?
I’m at your service, Ma’am!
What’s that, a string?
You got that just for me!
Why are you yelling now?
I caught it, can’t you see!

Swelter

The noise and the heat
are enough to ruin my day,
under this fur I swelter
and you expect me to play!

Perhaps another family
has heard of central air
and understands the pain
of mixing heat with long hair.

I can’t move an inch,
in this desert that’s so dry.
Oh, you have a fish?
Well, I guess I could try.

Error

I think you are mistaken,
and I’d better set you right,
just because I demand adoration
doesn’t mean to hold me tight.
You are surely incorrect
in assuming I want a kiss;
what I demand is respect
and in return you get a hiss.
In one way you are not wrong
since fish are what I crave,
so keep the dish full for so long
and remember you’re my slave.
