Silence

Silence is hard to find
and once you do,
it’s less than kind.

Pointing out all your flaws,
it cuts you down
with no just cause.

The ever-ringing in your ears
builds and builds,
releasing all your fears.

You hear silence smile
and think to yourself,
I need some noise for a while.

Stop the Rain

Every tear you shed
wounds my heart,
tears my soul
and being apart.
No matter the cause,
no matter the pain
I’d do anything
to stop the rain.
Every frown you flash,
my stomach aches
as sorrow lives
in your wake.
When hope seems lost
and despair your friend,
my hope is that love
finds you in the end.

Hairball

My stomach is turning
and my mouth is so dry;
this hairball inside me
makes me want to cry.
But real cats don’t cry
so look how brave I’ll be;
I’ll roam around until
I find the perfect spot to free
this chunk of hair,
all slimy and gross
and full of saliva
and disgusting to most.
Walking sure helps
but laying even more
so the best spot to be
is on your bed and not the floor.

Boarded Up

When you broke my heart,
I boarded it up
and saved it the pain
of ever loving again.

Years have gone by
and still I won’t trust
since the cracks never healed
and the boards never broke.

I saw you again
and you had not changed
but then, neither have I
so who is really to blame?

Catonese for Dummies

From here to there
and back again,
I roam the walls
of this lion’s den.
What do I want?
You’ll never know
since what I need,
I’ll never show.
Meow from here
and meow from there,
now I’ll stand
with my icy stare.
You need to learn
how to read my mind
since our language barrier
has us in a bind.
Don’t you know
what I say?
Give me fish,
you big dummy!
