Have you ever thought about leaving?
Just forgetting where you live.
The pain of staying hurts so bad
like a shot struck with a shiv.
And each day you’re forced to stay
is one more closer to your grave
like you’re digging it yourself
since it’s only death that you crave.
Have you ever thought of staying?
What difference could you make?
Knowing that hatred boils
leaving all your love at stake.

Blood and Tears
Come a little closer
and I’ll show you how I feel;
with my claws extended,
the pain you’ll feel is real.
A little scratch here
and a rip or two there,
you’ll know to stay away;
I think that’s more than fair.
This here is my space
and it’s best you steer clear
unless along with blood,
you wish to leak some tears.

Each scar tells a story
running straight to a nerve
as each tale unfolds
forgotten feelings emerge
and the words in the air
hang heavily about
soaking into each listener
baffled with doubt.
Each wound is a memory
both painful and true
of what happens to life
when it’s sent askew.

Up in Smoke
A split second
and all is gone;
the fire burns,
flames growing strong.
Standing solid
for many years
up in smoke
left with tears.
What pain, what sorrow
knowing still that life
life will bring tomorrow.

Stones unturned
and left
for moss to grow.
Ideas stuck,
prisoners
to those who know.
The past
left behind,
too heavy to tow.
Turmoil boils
hiding
in the depths below.

Puddle Jumping
Raindrops keep falling
making puddles on the ground.
Best let your soul jump.

Newt
Such fear inside those eyes,
if only you’d share your past.
I’d wrap you up in my arms
and hold you as long as eternity lasts.
Such scars you try to hide,
fear and loathing inside;
if only you could see
just how beautiful you are to me.

Real Time
What’s it like
to live in real time
and feel your life
as it passes by?
Embrace the moment
and break free
from the confines
placed on your heart.
Who will know
when you’re gone
that you’ve lived
the way
you choose.

Vacation
A vacation would be nice,
a little trip away
from all these worries
I face everyday.
Should I take another bath?
Should I sleep the day away?
Such tough decisions
to make if I stay.
I could travel the seven seas
or climb mountains to the top.
I could run a million miles
until my paws choose to stop.
The more I think about it now
this all just seems like work
so maybe I’ll stay right here
since vacation’s lost its perk.

Remains
The battlefield remains,
scattered corpses of the slain,
distant memories of pain
gently washed
by the rain.
