Tepid tea in chipped cups
shared by only two
as daylight soon escapes
being replaced by the moon.
Tepid tea in chipped cups
shared by only two
as daylight soon escapes
being replaced by the moon.
Such a tease She is,
bringing her warm ways to you
when more snow shall come.
Unsteady legs move step by step,
making the impossible journey
more of an ill-timed adventure.
The destination unknown to the mind
but kept well guarded by the heart;
each move forward is five steps back.
Blinded by this obsession, not a love,
a weary traveler can only make it so far
before each step becomes a hell.
A twisted mirage on a city block
and finally I lose my footing
faceplanting at your feet.
The clock strikes midnight
and midnight strikes me
leaving it’s mark in shadows
that finally roam free.
Each chime a chilling reminder
of just how hollow I am
as it echoes through my bones
leaving behind an anagram.
The jumble of letters remains,
just waiting to be solved
but no answer can come from
the sins of which I’ll never be absolved.
You say you’ve got to leave
as you’re walking out the door,
so what am I to believe?
I’m shaken to the core.
It’s not that I want you to stay,
in fact I don’t mind at all.
The longer you stay away,
the more I’ll have a ball.
So leave if you think you must
and know that I’ll be just fine
after all who can you trust
if not a mischievous feline?
They want another love song
or a cheery tune
to ease their troubled minds
from their hearts of ruin.
They think it should be easy
to write about such bliss,
but love lasts but an hour
ending without a kiss.
Move fast,
bite the bullet,
dodge the blows,
fight the man,
persevere,
reach your goals.
Stand your ground,
but wait your turn,
lead the pack,
start the burn.
Open your heart,
but guard it well,
climb all the way
back from hell.
Move fast,
think ahead,
dodge the blows,
blaze the trail,
persevere,
reach your goals.
A fake to the left,
not for a move to the right
rather, to stand still.
Pressures rise
and we struggle just
to be
but we realize
that as we’re told
nothing in this life
is free
and our spirit dies
just a little more
each and every day
as those who once were blind
finally see.
They say that all is fair
whether it be love or war
which means that all is fair
even if I love you no more.
