Where You Sleep

I won’t deny, I don’t need you,

but every now and then it would be great

to have your absolute attention

as I show off my adorable traits.

I know I’m not the only soul

who has a place in your exciting life,

but I’m definitely the most important

since I can cut you like a knife.

So sure, pay him more attention

and I swear you’ll not hear a peep.

But remember, while you’re forgetting me,

I know exactly where you sleep.

Screams

this screaming has got to stop

can anyone silence that voice

it rings in my ears

and rattles my brain

the agony quite clear

the urgency so palpable

all other noise fades until

only I am left

this screaming has got to stop

Resist

The fight continues

as history replays

the bloody battles

of our yesterdays.

Our elders know

the fight is hard,

their bodies broken,

their faces scarred.

Still they carry on

and inspire anew

the fire in our hearts,

to which we must be true.

Do not hold us down,

for when we rise

that fire will burn bright

exposing all your lies.

A new generation

stands united by love,

not because we are different

but because we rise above.

Brothers and sisters we are

and we must coexist;

now is our time

to rise up and resist.

What Now?

My plate is empty.

What now?

Time to stare into

the vast unknown

and wait for the answers

that will never come.

My wallet is empty.

What now?

Time to work again

until my fingers bleed

and I have just enough

to say I have nothing.

My soul is empty.

What now?

Time to search for meaning

that will mend this broken

and exposed creature

to some semblance of a human being.

Nameless

Nameless faces pass me by

as I wait for one named face

to say good-bye.

In this moment, I realize

those nameless faces hold more

than the one I recognize.

So many stories pass untold,

just crying out to be heard,

words waiting to take mold.
