In Your Eyes
I’ve often thought
the answers to life
hide somewhere behind
those bright eyes.
The deeper I look
the closer I get
to uncovering the truth
that is lost within the lies.
It’s not only
that your soul
warms my heart
and makes my spirit soar,
but in the love
you have for me
you allow me to
love you all the more.

All it takes
is one time
to lose your mind
to break your heart
to stand your ground
to fall in love.

Winter is Coming…
The snow doth fall
upon the frozen leaves;
the first sign of winter
this marks, one may believe.
Wise as ever, the cat knows
winter grows ever near
but, snow covered critters
are delicious still, never fear.

The last to fall
and the first to stand
are often remembered
as being far too grand.

A Ring
I gave you a ring,
but you must have been out.
No busy signal, no voicemail
no way to know what you’re about.
I waited for a call back
hoping not to play tag,
but still I heard not a thing,
your response time sure does lag.
I gave you a ring, you see
and still haven’t heard from you
what a mistake that was,
thank goodness, we never got to “I do.”

Life and Death
Life stands still
for nothing
and comes not
to you.
Yet you stand still
when nothing
but death comes
for you.
Vultures
Today, the vultures are
my friends.
They swiftly swoop in
to rid the world
of my mess.
Change is not
an option.
Foolishly forward I
fumble through
life.

until I can see you again
yet I know in my heart
it matters not when;
there is still nothing in this world
I wouldn’t do to see you again.
