Napping Alone

The sun seeps through
and reaches my throne
so I stretch a little farther,
excited to be alone.
A let out a yawn
and crack my eyes
and twitch my whiskers
and continue with sighs.
A nap is always best
with lots of warmth and sun
and is even better
when I’m the only one.

Just When

Just when I figure it all out,
you go and change it once more;
don’t you know I’m a cat
and change is something
we deplore?

Just when I’ve settled
and got ready for a nap,
you tear apart my world
leaving chaos & destruction
leaking from the tap.

Just when I don’t think I could
hate you any more,
you prove that hatred
is quite lenient compared
to what I have in store.

Groomed

How could you think it was okay
to use that weapon
and take my fur away?
A jumbled mess it may have been
but I approve all grooming
right down to where and when.
Just try that move once more
and then you best prepare
for what you’ll have in store.

My Interests

Somehow you think
you have my best interests in mind
but you are either stupid
or tragically blind.
How could you think
that I would be glad?
You woke me from my nap
and now I’m just mad.
No I didn’t need a kiss
and sure as hell no hug,
I was just fine right here
on my favorite rug.
Next time you think
it’s such a swell plan,
remember this well,
I am not a fan.

Emergency

Look how wide my eyes have grown
and how frantic I’ve become;
there’s a maniac outside
and something must be done.

The world may be ending
it’s true the end is nigh
and still you just sit there
while I let out a cry.

Don’t tell me it’s alright
and that this person is fine
when she’s mowing the lawn
while I attempt to dine.

So nonchalant you are,
but very soon you’ll see
just how serious this is
and come and hide with me.

Wise

I think I’ve figured it out,
just what it all means,
life, love
and all the in betweens.
I’ve got the solution,
it’s as clear as day,
I saw the resolution,
back when I was a stray.
I know all,
and I see it too,
I can spot the fools,
that’s why I chose you.

Too Much

Has anyone told you you’re annoying?
Because I am certain that you are.
Has anyone told you to leave?
I’d love if you went far.
Has anyone told you your voice
is just too much to hear?
When you are around me,
one thing is very clear.

I’d love nothing more than to tell you
that your noise is just too much
but I’d rather just be sleeping
and dreaming of mice and such.

Cleaning Day

“Your box is clean!”
You scream with glee
as if somehow
this matters to me.

I don’t need to know
when you complete a task.
If I wanted an update,
I’d simply ask.

All celebrations aside
you really shouldn’t be
so excited and chipper
that you just cleaned pee.

Menu

I think I am going to be sick
and I don’t know why
since I had so little to eat
and no, that’s not a lie.
I had my breakfast,
my lunch,
my dinner,
and then the sun did rise,
so I had another course
and a little dessert surprise.
Then I had a bath
and ate a clump of fur
then another meal,
just a few bites, I’m sure.
Then there was the nap
which left my tummy grumbling
so I made my way from bed to bowl
the whole way, stumbling.
Another bath there was,
so some more fur indeed
and then you came home
to bring me what I need.
A fish hits the spot,
each and every time,
but maybe all that fur
should be a digestive crime.

Dreams Come True

My girl is gone
one more time
and the house is quiet
and quite divine.
There is no one to wake me
with foolish thoughts
or follow me around
like connect-the-dots.
While I love my girl,
or so she claims,
it’s nice to get away
from such loud dames.
The reason she gives
is a wedding or two
so I’m grateful to love
for making dreams come true.
